May Parsons is a Filipino‑British nurse, global healthcare leader, and passionate advocate for the Filipino workforce in the UK. With nearly three decades of nursing experience, she currently serves as Head of Nursing for Gold Care Homes, bringing strategic leadership, operational expertise, and a deep commitment to elevating standards of care across the sector.

 

Born and raised in the Philippines, May moved to the UK to pursue her nursing career and has since become one of the most recognisable Filipino healthcare leaders in the country. She gained international prominence in December 2020 when she administered the world’s first COVID‑19 vaccine outside clinical trials, a historic moment that symbolised hope for millions and highlighted the vital contribution of Filipino nurses to the NHS and global healthcare.

 

Throughout her career, May has championed equality, professional development, and the wellbeing of internationally educated nurses. She has held influential roles including Modern Matron for Respiratory at University Hospitals Coventry, Associate Chief Nurse, and OET Global Ambassador, supporting thousands of healthcare professionals to build confidence, competence, and successful careers in the UK.

 

Her leadership has been recognised at the highest levels. May represented NHS England in receiving the George Cross from Queen Elizabeth II and led the procession at the NHS’s 75th anniversary service at Westminster Abbey. She also founded the May Parsons Foundation, dedicated to empowering nurses through education, advocacy, and community support.

 

As a Trustee of Filipinos in Care, May brings her lived experience, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to uplifting Filipino professionals across social care. She continues to champion excellence, compassion, and representation, ensuring that Filipino voices, talents, and leadership are seen, valued, and celebrated across the UK care sector.
