Fundraising and Sponsorship Policy

Last updated: 27 June 2025

1. Introduction

Filipinos in Care (FIC) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that exists to promote inclusion, leadership, and professional development among ethnically diverse care workers in the UK. This Fundraising and Sponsorship Policy sets out the principles and practices that guide how we generate income to support our charitable aims, ensuring transparency, integrity, and public trust.

2. Purpose of this Policy

This policy outlines:
- How fundraising and sponsorship activities are carried out;
- The types of contributions we accept;
- The procedures for approving sponsorships;
- How we ensure compliance with Charity Commission guidance and public benefit requirements.

3. Fundraising Principles

FIC is committed to the following principles in all fundraising efforts:
- Transparency: We clearly communicate how funds will be used.
- Accountability: Income and donations are recorded, monitored, and reported in accordance with charity law.
- Ethics: We will not engage in fundraising that compromises our mission, independence, or reputation.
- Inclusivity: Fundraising activities must reflect our values of equity, diversity, and fairness.
- Voluntarism: No undue pressure will be placed on individuals or organisations to donate.

4. Sponsorship Acceptance Policy

FIC welcomes sponsorships from companies and organisations whose values align with our mission. However, sponsorships must:
- Not create a conflict of interest or imply endorsement of products or services;
- Be approved by the Board of Trustees through a documented decision;
- Not compromise our independence, programme content, or governance.
Sponsorship agreements will be formalised in writing and must state the purpose, contribution, recognition given (e.g. logo placement), and duration of the agreement.

5. Use of Raised Funds

All funds raised through donations, grants, and sponsorships will be used solely to advance the charity’s objects, such as:
- Delivering training and leadership development programmes (e.g. Project CHARM);
- Providing mentoring, career guidance, and pastoral support to overseas care workers;
- Hosting recognition events and CPD opportunities.
Funds will not be used for any non-charitable or personal purposes.

6. Conflicts of Interest and Declining Support

FIC reserves the right to decline any donation or sponsorship that:
- Is offered by a source in conflict with our mission or ethical standards;
- Could damage our reputation or affect public confidence in our independence;
- Comes with conditions that undermine our charitable aims.
The Board will assess potential risks and ensure decisions are documented.

7. Transparency and Public Reporting

All significant contributions and sponsorships will be acknowledged in our annual report and made available to the public on request. Where appropriate, details of major donors or partners may be published on our website, subject to data protection regulations and donor consent.

8. Review of this Policy

This policy will be reviewed every two years or sooner if there is a significant change in legislation or in the charity’s activities. Revisions must be approved by the Board of Trustees.
