Updated: Nov 20

London, United Kingdom – Filipinos in Care proudly announces the completion of the first cohort of Project CHARM (Care Home Aspiring Registered Managers Programme), a leadership development initiative designed to build a pipeline of future Registered Managers within the UK care home sector.

Delivered over four intensive modules combining regulatory education, leadership development, operational management and quality improvement, Project CHARM equipped participants with the practical tools, professional confidence, and governance insight required to manage CQC-regulated services effectively. The 40-hour CPD-accredited and CMI Recognised programme featured real case studies from CQC inspections, scenario-based workshops, profit & loss and budgeting exercises, as well as leadership and change management labs.

The pilot cohort composed of Clinical Leads, Deputy Managers, and Quality Practitioners from across the country, completed the programme this month, achieving a 100% satisfaction rate and consistent five-star feedback across all modules. Delegates described the experience as “transformational,” “practically valuable,” and “career-defining.”

“This course has boosted my confidence to step into management. I now understand not just the regulations, but how to lead people, manage risk and run a care home strategically and sustainably.” – Participant Feedback

“The mix of operational realism and leadership growth in this programme is something our sector desperately needs.” – Facilitator, Project CHARM

Raising Representation and Leadership Capability in Social Care

The programme was created in contribute to the workforce crisis in social care, where Registered Manager vacancies remain high and leadership turnover continues to affect quality of care. Despite making up a significant proportion of the UK social care workforce, internationally educated professionals, particularly from minority backgrounds remain underrepresented in leadership roles.

Project CHARM is Filipinos in Care’s contribution to address this gap by providing accessible leadership development and equitable career progression opportunities. The programme is delivered entirely free thanks to the support of sector partners and volunteer facilitators who believe in lifting future leaders from within the profession.

“This programme proves what is possible when we invest in people. Project CHARM is not just a course—it is a movement for leadership equity in social care.” — Jay Trondillo, Programme Lead & Co-Founder, Filipinos in Care CIC

Partnership, Impact and What’s Next

The cohort was supported by industry leaders and care executives who served as guest speakers and mentors. The programme now moves into its mentorship phase, where each graduate continues professional development through the CMI resources and mentoring.

Recruitment for Project CHARM Cohort 2 – 2026 will open in February.
