LONDON, UK – Filipinos in Care CIC proudly marked the official launch of the first cohort of its flagship Project CHARM (Care Home Aspiring Registered Managers) Programme last 14th June 2024, bringing together a pioneering group of future leaders in adult social care.
Held virtually, the kick-off event welcomed delegates from across the UK, each selected through a rigorous process to join this CPD-accredited, aspiring manager's development course.
Project CHARM is a four-module programme specifically designed to upskill individuals working in care homes—especially those from diverse backgrounds—into confident, regulation-ready Registered Managers. Delivered free of charge, the course aligns with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, and covers key leadership competencies over 32 contact hours of intensive training.
The curriculum spans:
Module 1: Understanding the Role of a Registered Manager
Module 2: Leadership and People Management
Module 3: Governance and Operational Management
Module 4: Leading Change and Improving Outcomes
Facilitated by experienced healthcare leaders, the session featured rich discussion, practical exercises, and thought-provoking pre-course and post-course reflections. Participants explored themes such as regulatory accountability, emotional intelligence, safeguarding, coaching, and quality improvement.
The kick-off session was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Participants expressed enthusiasm about the interactive format and the programme’s relevance to the real-world demands of care home leadership. Many asked thoughtful, challenging questions about regulation, risk, and leadership expectations—demonstrating a strong appetite for development and change.
“This is exactly the kind of opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” said one participant. “It bridges the gap between frontline experience and the leadership skills needed to run a safe, high-quality care service.”
The course includes formative assessments, post-module reflections, and assignments submitted via the Canvas Virtual Learning Environment, with a final completion certificate issued upon meeting the programme requirements.
As one of the few sector-specific, culturally grounded leadership courses in the UK social care space, Project CHARM aims to shape the next generation of care home leaders—those who are not only regulatory-ready but values-led and equity-driven.
