London, UK – 17 July 2025 — Filipinos in Care is delighted to announce that its leadership programme for future care home managers, Project CHARM (Care Home Aspiring Registered Managers), has been formally recognised by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
This recognition follows an in-depth mapping exercise that confirmed the programme’s strong alignment with CMI’s Professional Standard for Management & Leadership at the Aspiring Manager level.
Built specifically for the adult social care sector, Project CHARM offers more than just theory. It brings together real-world regulation, practical leadership tools, and reflective learning. The result? A grounded, rigorous training experience that helps frontline staff grow into capable and confident leaders.
Jay Trondillo, Co-founder of Filipinos in Care and Programme Lead for Project CHARM, said:
“This isn’t just an endorsement of our curriculum — it’s a signal that care home leadership deserves professional, high-quality development just like any other sector. We designed CHARM with the realities of care work in mind. To have that recognised by the UK’s gold standard in leadership is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
A Programme That Delivers Where It Counts
The CMI recognition highlights the programme’s strengths in several key areas, including:
Emotional intelligence and people management
Strategic thinking in care operations
Governance, regulation, and accountability
Coaching, mentoring, and inclusive leadership
The programme doesn’t just help learners understand leadership — it equips them to practise it.
More Than a Certificate
Those who complete Project CHARM will receive a CMI Recognised Programme Certificate and gain Foundation Chartered Manager Status, a designation that reflects emerging leadership skill and a commitment to professional growth.
“This added recognition gives our learners something concrete to take into their careers — especially as many aim for their first Registered Manager role,” added Trondillo.
Designed by the Sector, for the Sector
Running from July to October 2025, Project CHARM combines in-person teaching with online support, mentoring, group reflection, and action planning. It’s been developed specifically to support staff from diverse backgrounds — especially those who often face barriers to progression.
Demand from aspiring managers — backed by the support of their employers — has already been strong, with places filled quickly.
“This programme is about creating a leadership pipeline that reflects the heart of the workforce,” Trondillo said. “It’s practical. It’s challenging. And now it’s officially recognised.”
