Ariel Lanada is a Filipino nurse, educator and diaspora leader whose work spans clinical education, workforce development, higher education, international recruitment and community leadership.

He serves as Divisional Lead for Practice Development and Education at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he supports nursing practice, professional development and education across one of the UK’s leading NHS organisations. Alongside his NHS role, Ariel contributes to the academic development of nurses through his work with Oxford Brookes University, where he lectures on master’s programmes, and as an External Examiner at the University of West London. Internationally, he is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Central Philippine University, teaching Transcultural Nursing and helping connect Filipino nursing excellence with global healthcare practice.

Ariel is a registered Nurse and Teacher with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He holds an MSc in Nursing Education from Oxford Brookes University and has completed the taught component of his Doctor of Education, with his thesis outcome awaited.

His leadership extends well beyond formal education. Ariel is President of the Filipino Nurses Association UK, Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Chair of the Alliance of International Nurses and Midwives Diasporas UK, and Chairman of the Filipino Community of Oxfordshire. Through these roles, he has become a recognised voice for internationally educated nurses, Filipino healthcare professionals and migrant communities in the UK.

Ariel’s contribution to nursing and community life has been widely recognised. In 2021, he was named joint BAME Nurse of the Year at the National BAME Health and Care Awards for his work supporting colleagues and the Filipino community during the COVID-19 pandemic. His published work has explored the experiences of internationally educated nurses in England, the standardisation of clinical educator roles and the experiences of ethnic minority staff during the COVID-19 vaccination rollout.

He is also Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Filipino Resources Incorporated, a Department of Migrant Workers licensed international recruitment agency that supports Filipino healthcare professionals pursuing ethical overseas employment.

Across every role, Ariel’s work is anchored in education, representation and service. He continues to champion culturally intelligent leadership, ethical migration and the visibility of Filipino nurses as contributors to British healthcare, higher education and civic life.
