Xyza "Xam" Macutay-Malloch BEM is a proud and passionate social care leader with over 15 years of experience, built on a strong nursing background from the Philippines. She currently manages a 65-bed nursing home in Wiltshire, where she leads with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to person-centred, high-quality care.
In 2021, Xam was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for her outstanding service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through her strong leadership and dedication, the nursing home remained free from outbreaks until late 2021—an achievement that reflects her resilience, expertise, and determination to protect both residents and staff during one of the most challenging times in modern healthcare. In 2026, Xam was awarded the prestigious CNO Silver Award from the office of the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, Professor Deborah Sturdy, for her outstanding services to social care.
Xam is a committed advocate for social care, with a particular passion for Dementia and End of Life Care. She champions dignity, cultural understanding, and holistic support for individuals and families, while raising the profile of care professionals and the vital work they do every day.
Beyond her professional role, Xam serves as a Parish Councillor in a small town in the South Cotswolds, where she works to strengthen local initiatives and ensure her community is represented and supported. Her public service reflects her deep belief in giving back and creating meaningful change.
As Co-Founder and Director of Filipinos in Care, Xam brings visionary leadership, advocacy, and lived experience. She is dedicated to empowering Filipino care workers through mentorship, representation, and creating opportunities that elevate their voices and recognise their invaluable contribution to the social care sector.
