Margielyn Lopez-Gonzaga is a highly respected Registered Nurse and senior care leader with over 24 years of experience in the UK’s social care sector. As General Manager of The Burlington by Boutique Care Homes, she is recognised for her values-driven leadership and her consistent delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.

 

Originally from Kalibo, Aklan in the Philippines, Margielyn began her UK journey in 2002 when she was directly recruited from the Philippines by The Royal Star & Garter Homes, a charity supporting ex-service men and women. She was one of only six successful candidates selected from 50 nurses interviewed, marking the beginning of a remarkable and inspiring career in the UK.

 

Starting as a Staff Nurse, Margielyn progressed through a range of senior leadership roles including Unit Manager, Clinical Lead, Deputy Manager, and Clinical Manager, before becoming General Manager in different Care Group companies. She has been consistently headhunted to lead and transform care services, with a strong track record of supporting homes to achieve positive outcomes in Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections. She is Registered in CQC as Registered Manager.

 

Under her leadership, her current service has received multiple recognitions, including being a Finalist at the National Care Awards 2024, Winner of the NAPA Award for Physical Activity 2025, and recognition at the Dementia Care Awards 2025 and Surrey Care Awards 2025, where her Care Homes she managed was awarded Champion in People and Progress 2025. The home has also been named among the Top 20 Care Homes in Southeast England 2026.

 

Margielyn is also a dedicated community leader. She serves as Trustee of Filipinos in Care, is an Executive Board Member of Women’s Voice, and is the Founder and President of the Aklanon Community in the UK and Ireland. Her work reflects a deep commitment to empowering others, supporting Filipino professionals, and building strong, inclusive communities.

 

Her contributions have been recognised with the Professional Award 2025 by Britanya Ngayon and the Eminent Woman of Impact Award 2026 by BCP Women’s community impact award.
