Filipinos in Care CIC Announces First Cohort of Project CHARM – A Groundbreaking Step Towards Leadership Equity in Social Care

London, 24 May 2025 – Filipinos in Care CIC is proud to announce the successful completion of the recruitment process and the formal selection of the first 10 participants in its flagship leadership programme, Project CHARM (Care Home Aspiring Registered Managers). This pioneering initiative is designed to support the next generation of care home leaders from underrepresented and ethnically diverse backgrounds across the UK.

The selected cohort brings together a powerful mix of talent, spanning from senior care home leaders to deputy managers with between 3 and 16 years of frontline leadership experience. The group reflects the richness of diversity within social care, both in heritage and professional background, with each individual demonstrating a clear passion for people-led care and continuous improvement.

“We were truly inspired by their stories,” said Jay Trondillo, Co-Founder of Filipinos in Care CIC and creator of the programme. “Their depth of experience, strong ethical values, and drive to lead care homes with compassion and clarity is exactly what the sector needs. We are thrilled to be part of their journey.”

The recruitment process was highly competitive, involving an open application, career reflection statements, and structured interviews with the programme team. The panel was consistently impressed by the candidates’ motivation to grow as leaders and their shared vision of raising standards and inspiring teams.

One panel member commented, “This group isn’t just ready for leadership—they’re ready to transform care.”

Project CHARM officially launches in June 2025, delivering four practical modules covering regulatory responsibilities, operational excellence, leadership practice, and reflective growth. The programme is fully aligned with the CQC’s new Single Assessment FrameworkSkills for Care leadership guidance, and current sector priorities around workforce sustainability and inclusion.

Project CHARM represents a bold step forward—not only investing in future registered managers, but championing a more equitable leadership landscape in adult social care.
