Filipinos in Care (FIC) has marked its anniversary with a successful celebration bringing together award-winning professionals, sector leaders and community voices from across health and social care. The event highlighted the growing contribution of Filipino professionals to the workforce and reinforced the organisation’s mission to champion leadership, visibility and progression within the sector.
Held as part of FIC’s anniversary programme, the event featured two panel discussions focused on lived experience, leadership and career development. The first panel, Award-Winning Filipinos day-to-day Life, explored the realities behind recognition and success, while the second, Their Journey from Healthcare to Social Care, examined the transition Filipino professionals have made into adult social care and the impact they continue to have within it.
The programme also drew support from senior figures across government, professional bodies, sector organisations and community leadership. Messages of support were delivered by His Excellency Teodoro Locsin Jr. of the Philippine Embassy, Dudley Sawyer of the Skills for Care Race Equity Reference Group, Richard Ayres of Care England, Millie Simms of the Royal College of Nursing, Olivia Firth of The Care Workers’ Charity and Zoe Fry of the Social Care Nursing Advisory Council. Additional contributions from Sanjay Dhrona of Outstanding Society and Ariel Lanada added to the event’s strong cross sector presence.
Panellists included Charito Romano BEM, Maschelle Austria, Ridel Francisco, Xyza Macutay-Malloch BEM, May Parsons, Jaja Payopilin and Arlene Bautista, all of whom brought insight, honesty and professional depth to the discussions. Their stories reflected the resilience, ambition and service that continue to shape Filipino leadership across care settings.
Speaking after the event, Jay Trondillo, Co-Founder of Filipinos in Care, said:
“We are deeply grateful for the support shown at this year’s anniversary event. What made it so meaningful was not only the turnout, but the spirit in the room. There was pride, honesty, encouragement and a real sense of shared purpose. It was a strong reminder that Filipinos are making a profound contribution to health and social care, and that their leadership and stories deserve to be recognised.”
The event also generated interest in Project CHARM, the Care Home Aspiring Registered Managers Programme, which was presented during the evening. The initiative has been developed to support aspiring leaders in adult social care with practical learning in leadership, governance, quality, operational and financial management.
FIC said more events are planned this year as it continues to expand its reach in Cumbria, Scotland and Wales, with its Christmas Charity and Awards Gala scheduled for Saturday, 5 December. Venue details will be announced in due course.
