LONDON, UK – July 2025
Filipinos in Care CIC proudly launched its pioneering leadership development programme, Project CHARM, with the successful delivery of Module 1: Understanding the Role of a Registered Manager. Held as part of the four-module accredited programme, this first session laid a strong foundation for aspiring care home registered managers, focusing on accountability, statutory duties, and the regulatory framework that underpins high-quality care.
Participants described the session as “engaging, interactive, and thought-provoking,” with many citing it as a significant shift in mindset as they move from frontline roles into strategic leadership positions.
“It’s not an easy job to take full accountability as a manager, but it is a rewarding role—especially when your leadership helps the service achieve Outstanding. That’s what motivates me,” one participant shared.
Throughout the day, learners reflected on how to live the Care Quality Commission’s Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs), grasp the full scope of the fundamental standards, and embed legal responsibility into everyday decision-making. The use of real-life inspection case studies, peer learning, and journaling exercises empowered attendees to take ownership of their leadership development.
Key takeaways included:
A clear understanding of the registered manager’s accountability and delegation boundaries
Confidence in interpreting CQC regulatory standards
Renewed motivation to lead teams with integrity, compliance, and compassion
Insight that “all the extra work I do is preparing me for my future role”
Another attendee noted,
“I now understand that while we can delegate certain tasks, as Home Managers we are still fully accountable. The legal implications of our actions are real.”
Learners walked away with the message that excellence is not accidental—it is intentional, regulated, and requires consistent effort. As one participant summarised,
“I will now live the regulations through my daily practice and lead my team to go above and beyond compliance.”
Project CHARM continues in the coming weeks with Module 2: Leadership and People Management, where the cohort will explore emotional intelligence, coaching, and inclusive leadership.
